Art Deco Villas

Art Deco Villas

A pair of semi-detached homes inspired by the Art Deco period.

Shoreham Airport – designed by Stavers, Hessell & Tiltman, champions of art deco architecture – was the source of inspiration for this pair of semi-detached houses on Shoreham beach.

Unmistakably recognisable because of the ‘slot’ at 1st floor between the two houses that enabled the houses to be visually detached at 1st floor and allow a skylight to existing in the middle part of each house.

Glazed pewter bricks were used on the front elevation as well as metal framed windows and reconstituted stone label moulds to highlight deco detail.
