Lewes Crescent, Brighton : Grade 1 Listed Regency Townhouse
Extensive renovation of a Grade 1 listed building, including an outstanding glass extension to the rear.
Consort House is the former home of Princess Bejaratana of Thailand. This Brighton landmark house had not been touched internally for over 50 years. It required a top-to-toe restoration under the watchful eye of Brighton & Hove City Council Conservation Officers. The restoration was second to none in its quality and authenticity.
A 2-storey glass extension was added at the rear to replace non-original later additions. One of the only double-storey glazed extensions of its type to be added to a Regency building, it enabled the historic façade to be visible whilst also adding a contemporary, light filled space.
It has versatile use such as a cinema room, studio or gym, and connects the home to the garden.
“The new glass-sided room is a revelation!”
“a wonderful sense of light and space”
“overwhelmed the quality of the work”
