A Castle for the 21st century

An incredibly rewarding project where a bland 1960’s detached house was completely transformed.  The brief, and the location, beckoned for contemporary beach house ‘make over’ to include super insulating the envelope.  Forming an entirely new brickwork external wall around the original house, all new heating and re-wiring, complete interior design package including marble surfaces from Brazil and zinc roof!

The north facing roof windows within the 2nd floor zinc roof were inspired by castle battlements.

"The old house was a tired and sorry looking building. The re-design is greatly improved."

"There is an overall cohesiveness which ties the distinctive elements together."

"The palette and glazing avoids a heavy appearance that is more sympathetic to the seaside location."
